PM Modi praises water saving work in Nandyal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about a big water saving project in Nandyal during his radio show. The local area cleaned up long water channels and fixed many old water tanks.
What happened in Nandyal
Prime Minister Narendra Modi spoke to the country on his radio show called Mann ki Baat. During his speech, he praised the people in a place called Nandyal for their hard work in saving water. Since July, the local workers and villagers have cleaned up thousands of kilometers of old water paths that bring rain to farms and homes.
How they saved the water
The local teams did a lot of heavy work to make sure rain water is saved properly. Here are the main things they did:
- They cleaned out mud and dirt from 2,691 kilometers of water channels.
- They fixed 225 small water tanks out of 251 total tanks.
- They made sure rain water can flow easily to help farmers grow crops.
Why this work matters
Saving rain water is very important for India. When rains do not come on time, people do not have enough water to drink or water their crops. By cleaning old channels and fixing tanks, the people of Nandyal made sure that rain water stays in the ground instead of going to waste. The Prime Minister wants other parts of the country to learn from this good example and save water too.
