What is happening at Tata Sons

N. Chandrasekaran, the big boss of the major Indian business group Tata Sons, is stepping down. He announced that he will leave his important job in February 2027 when his current contract finishes. He made this choice because the company board members did not all agree on keeping him for another term.

Why he is leaving

Being the leader of a huge company requires all the top bosses to agree. Without everyone on the board wanting him to stay, Mr. Chandrasekaran decided it was best not to ask for a new term. He has led the company through many big business deals and changes over the years.

  • N. Chandrasekaran will step down in February 2027.
  • The Tata Sons board was not completely united on extending his time.
  • He chose not to ask to be reappointed as chairman.

What happens to the company

Tata Sons is one of the biggest business groups in India. The company now has plenty of time to look for a new leader before Mr. Chandrasekaran officially leaves his office in a few years.
